1-2-1 POTTERY WHEEL LESSONS

Our hour long 1-2-1 or 2-2-1 introduction to throwing lessons are very popular and will give you a hands on experience of what throwing a vessel on the wheel is like. You will learn the basic moves needed to create a simple bowl or beaker which we will then fire and you can return to decorate another day.

An hour long one to one lesson is £35.00 and this includes your clay, tuition, bisque firing and returning on another day to glaze decorate the piece you have made. If you would like to work with a friend we can do a 2-2-1 one hour lesson and the total cost including glazing is £50.00 for both of you.

Note : At the time of booking your throwing lesson, payment in full is required to secure your session. All pieces created are retained for a maximum of eight weeks. If you wish to glaze decorate your piece, this must be completed within this time period

Slabbing Parties

If you prefer a different approach to working with clay, slabbing is a great way to make decorative and sculptural forms.  Either rolled by hand or on our slabbing machine, we can quickly get you making all sorts of things from tiles to jugs and a lot more. The only limit is your imagination.

We are always happy to have groups of all ages come and join us at our slabbing sessions in the studio. Prices per person start at £20 +£5 firing fee.

Clay Play

For our younger makers, age 4 upwards, we have 30 minutes clay play sessions.  in the studio. All children like getting their hands on some nice squidgy clay and just experimenting with the material helps with their creative motor skills.

You can either take home what you have made on the day and paint it at home or opt to have the piece fired for an additional £5.

We also sell Das air dry clay and Fimo oven bake coloured clay if you want to pursue model making further at home.

Pottery Painting

From pieces that children will adore to teapots and other larger items more suitable for older decorators, we always have an interesting range of pottery blanks for you to to work with.

How does it work?
First off, choose one of the many shapes we have in stock like plates, mugs or bowls and then sit and decorate your piece. Once you have finished painting your design, we will then dip it in a clear glaze and fire in our electric kiln.  All our glazes are Lead free so are safe for everyone to use and when fired are safe for food use. We will text you to let you know when it is ready for collection.

Prices range from £8.00 +£5.00 studio fee for one of our happy animal range up to £30.00 +£5.00 for a large day of the dead skull.

Booking a pottery painting session is not always necessary, but you will need to book a large group or party by calling us on 01273 728282.  We can accommodate up to 16 painters at one sitting. A deposit of £5.00 per person is required to guarantee the space.  We can also arrange for group evening sessions between 6-8pm by request.

We recommend allocating an approximate 1-2 hours for a relaxed pottery painting session.
